Visited Kuppanna Austin for an early dinner and ordered Nikkah Mutton Biryani, Parotta, Gobi Manchurian, and Chicken Curry. The biggest disappointment was the Nikkah Mutton Biryani, it was made with basmati rice, which I decided to try despite my reservations. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst biryanis I’ve had. The rice lacked the rich, buttery mutton flavor that a good biryani should have, and the mutton pieces were dry, not tender, and inconsistent in quality. The rice tasted more like pepper rice than biryani. I’ve had mutton biryani at Junior Kuppanna in Chennai, where the Seeraga Samba rice version was absolutely excellent, so this was especially disappointing in comparison. The Gobi Manchurian was also below average and did not taste fresh or flavorful. The Parotta and Chicken Curry were decent and probably the best part of the meal, though not enough to make up for the other dishes. Overall, the biryani and Gobi Manchurian fell far short of expectations. I hope the restaurant improves the authenticity and quality of its signature dishes.

I recently visited this South Indian restaurant with high expectations, hoping to enjoy some authentic food and a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be quite disappointing. I ordered the mini onion uttapam, which was the dish I was most looking forward to. Sadly, the uttapams were extremely doughy and felt undercooked in texture. They were heavy and difficult to eat, to the point that I couldn't even finish them. While the chutneys served alongside were decent, they didn't stand out in any way. In fact, I have had much fresher and more flavorful chutneys at several other South Indian restaurants. These seemed like they had been sitting out for a while and lacked the freshness I usually expect. I had also ordered payasam/kheer (sweet rice pudding) for take out, but the taste was well below par. I could just see the ghee/clarified butter being used so much that it had formed a thick 2 inch layer on top of the kheer which made it very greasy to eat. Had a nice weekend lunch experience at Kupanna on a Sunday for their unlimited thali 🍛✨ They have separate thali menus for weekdays and weekends, and the weekend thali definitely has more variety and a slightly higher price — which makes sense considering the number of dishes included. We tried both the veg and non-veg thali. They offered poori, chapathi, and paratha options, and we went with poori and paratha. The poori was a little oily, but overall the meal started on a strong note with their soup, which was absolutely amazing 😍 The dessert, Double Ka Meetha, tasted really good too, although it had a bit more ghee/oil than expected. The highlight for us was definitely the non-veg side 🔥 The chicken curry and mutton curry tasted very authentic, homestyle, and flavorful. Their chicken starter was also excellent. However, the chicken biryani could use some improvement — it felt a little plain and lacked enough salt and spice compared to the other dishes. For the non-veg thali, we genuinely enjoyed around 80% of the items. The veg thali was decent, but comparatively we were satisfied with about 65% of the dishes. A chain south Indian restaurant located on 183N, this restaurant serves okay food, nothing to boast about. The restaurant itself is very bare, basic dining. I would prefer to do carry out here. Made a visit for the first time hearing about the lineage but felt the food overall left to be desired. Portions are on the smaller side for take outs, the chicken dishes I ordered (2) both bone in, lacked substance or they were not meaty. Flavor was okay for both the dishes. Not sure if I would order it again unless I can get boneless. The only saving grace was the mutton biryani I had when i dined waiting for the take out order. It had flavor, decent pieces of meat and tastes good. The filter coffee was again just barely okay. Service at the restaurant was good, made the effort. With tons of Indian restaurant up north this place failed to live up to expectations on my first visit.

Amazing food from a very specific part of Tamil Nadu, India; Kongu Nadu. The food was very well prepared and extremely delicious. The place and service may not be so much to write home about. However, whatever is lacking is made up in the food. I cannot explain enough how good the food is here. I've been here twice already and they did not disappoint. Do not come here expecting 5 star place settings and uniformed service. Come here with the anticipation of food well prepared with the intricate knowledge of spice blends and spice play. These folks know how to cook. This was my first experience with Kongu food and I was extremely pleased. Hence my return. I will continue to return here. Highly recommended if you like very flavorful and hot and spicy South Indian food.
